Inter Society Match
Yateley Village Golf Society vs Hampshire Hackers Golf Society Home
Weds, 20th Jun 2008, South Winchester Golf Club
Well the weather held out for what was expected to be a very wet and windy day. 23 players from HHGS matched the same number from YVGS on a matchplay basis. Unfortunately for us, on this occasion we were properly beaten losing 7 of the 12 matches, and this means that again, Yateley Village Golf Society hold the trophy for another year. Whilst we hate losing, it must be said that it was a brilliant day, played in the right spirit. We also ran two individual society stableford competitions within the main match and for our team, well done to Adrian Knight and Terry Caister for hitting the nearest the pins on the 6th and 11th holes and Mike Sinacola who topped three long YVGS drives to take longest drive on the 16th. Incidentally, Ade was in the first group through the 6th and Terry was the first through the 11th, nobody else getting to write their names on the markers.
In our HHGS stableford comp, 3rd prize and a 1 shot cut goes to Paul Davies with 35 Points, 2nd place with 37 points and also enjoying a 1 shot cut is Ray Cook whilst for the first time ever with 40 points and enjoying a 3 shot cut is Kevin Bascombe. It has to be said that with the difficult windy conditions, the above three scores are excellent.
Once again our thanks to the YVGS lads who helped make the day. Here's to 2009....... Over to you Stevie Pitt!

The last Match was played on 8/8/2007 and officially drawn at 5.5 to 5.5. However to award the Crystal trophy, it was down to a coin and calls of heads or tails. Based on that, YVGS hold the trophy for 2007/2008, although it is classed as a draw.
It is fair to say that it was an excellent event and we shall be doing it again. 21 players per side on this occasion, next...... who knows!
Watch this space for the details of the next inter-society game. Here are a few of the photographs taken on the day.
