May '12 - Blacknest Golf & Country Club
Again, 26 people took to the Blacknest fairways on what was a superb golf day. No rain, no heavy winds and no hailstones.... most of which has the been the norm for the last month! To say that the rough was unforgiving would be an understatement. Thick and deep. Once in it , you may as well have picked up your ball and moved on. There were many holes scratched because of it. The club did explain that it had just been far too wet to cut it. We could belive it.
This time out we had a nearest pin and a nearest the pin in two shots. Both were par 3's, the 7th and 16th, but the 16th is 211 yards off the tee, uphill and wind against made this a tough hole. Only one person actually hit the green with the first shot and not surprisingly went on to be nearest in 2. Well done to our current Captain, Mike Sinacola. The 7th hole nearest pin was won by Tommy Frampton.
Our best guest, and not for the first time, was Ray Hallett, congratulations Ray, but you have a 2 shot cut next time you join us! In third place for the 'ackers was Brian Kirby with 32 points. Just ahead with 33 points and taking second place was Mike Grieshaber. Both Brian and Mike enjoy a 1 shot cut for the next twelve months. Our overall winner with 34 points was Society Captain, Mike Sinacola, who will enjoy a 2 shot cut for the next year.

April '12 - Alresford Golf Club for the next t
26 hit the fairways of Alresford. The course was impeccable. The greens superb and the fairways in fantastic condition. The sunny start soon turned to hailstones, then rain, then back to sun for the finish. All in all one of, if not, the best course we have played in some time. A real gem of the Hampshire countryside.
Nearest the pins were on the 10th and 16th par 3 holes. These were duly won by John Fleming and Guest, Keith Johnson respectively. Our best guest of the day was Steve Godwin with 36 Stableford points. That brings us to the 'ackers.......... In 3rd place with 32 points was Dave Cheadle on his first outing as a Hacker. In 2nd place and on the rostrum for his second time in 8 years, Pete Stubbs with 34 points. In 1st place and a regular to the rostrum, the winner with 37 points was Andrew Inkson. Andrew enjoys a 2 shot cut and both Dave and Pete a 1 shot cut.

Mar '12 - Wellow Golf Course
27 attended and played on our first visit to Wellow. We were a bit surprised that not one tee box was in play and we had to play off the mats! In all fairness the course needs some distance markers on it, as it was difficult to know what clubs to use without an indication of how far away from the green you were. Food for thought for the club owners...........
Regardless of the above, nearest the pins were on the 3rd and 17th holes and were won by Graham Wiseman & Richard Warwick respectively. Our best guest, with 39 points, was Doug Cowan, who should consider joining us now with a score like that. As far as the Hackers are concerned, in third place, on countback, with 36 points was Ray Cook. In second position and also on 36 points was Iain Huxley. Both gentlemen receive a 1 shot cut on their handicaps. Our winner though, with 37 points, and enjoying a 2 shot cut in the process, was Mike Grieshaber. Well played folks.
Below is the final leaderboard of our Event number 2.

Feb '12 - Dunwood Manor
36 of the 37 scheduled to play arrived. Great weather conditions and our chance to say goodbye to one of Hampshire's hidden gems as the course is scheduled to close at the end of April.
A tough course at the best of times and although slightly damp underfoot, played realy well. The estimated Standard Scratch meant that the usual par of 70 really equated to 78 and that meant to win with 36 points was no mean feat. To beat that was outstanding.
We had two nearest the pin holes the 5th and 18th. Well done to Mark Nolan and Greg Dye respectively for accurate golf (on two holes anyway!).
Our best guest and in fact the best overall player on the day was Steve Smith with a staggering 38 points. Of the Hackers, in 3rd place with 32 points and enjoying a 1 shot cut was Mark Nolan. In the runners up position with 33 points was Roy Challinor, who after an 8 shot adjustment to his handicap before going out has promptly had two of those taken away! The top spot however went to corporate member Jeremy Over from Moor Blatch with 36 points who earnt himself a 3 shot cut.
